Glossary of Terms for Custom Rigid Extruded Vinyl Profiles
ABS - The abbreviation for acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, a thermoplastic copolymer made by polymerizing styrene and acrylonitrile in the presence of polybutadiene. ABS plastic is used for products where hardness, gloss, toughness, and electrical insulation properties are important.
Coextrusion - An extrusion produced by utilizing two or more extruders to melt and deliver a steady volumetric throughput of different viscous plastics to a single extrusion head. Coextrusions can consist of soft and rigid vinyls bonded together during the extrusion process. .Alternative Terms: Dual Extrusion, Dual Durometer Extrusion
PVC - The abbreviation for polyvinyl chloride, a thermoplastic polymer used for both rigid and soft extruded profiles. The properties of pvc make it an excellent choice for a variety of products manufactured by Tex-Trude including weather seals, commercial window glazing, door astragals, mini blind slats, spline wire, glazing beads, door sweeps and coextruded profiles.
